Final workshops and celebration with the Refugee Action group!

Last week was our final sessions with the Refugee Action group, the six weeks have flown!

On Thursday we worked with half of the group assembling jewellery pieces using the polymer clay beads they made the week before. It was a studious atmosphere as everyone concentrated on making bracelets, necklaces and earrings. The participants had been so prolific the week before that most of the session was spent on making the pieces. They were made for themselves and their daughters.

There was a little time at the end to have a go at stamping on copper. The patterns were taken from the idea of birds wings; referencing Shelanu’s own Migrating Birds range.

On Friday we invited all of the participants to our workshop at Craftspace, to celebrate the past six weeks.

The majority of the group worked on assembling their jewellery; making pieces for their daughters and themselves.

Then there was time to try out saw piercing and stamping on copper.

The hard work was rewarded with a delicious Lebanese feast! We’ve had a great time working with the women represented by Refugee Action and now they know where to find us we hope they’ll be back!
